Week 42-43 - 2024

🚀 HelloStavanger

Last week, many volunteers carried out HelloStavanger. It was 2 intense days, with about 600 visitors to Stavanger's first developer conference. It was truly magical that this was accomplished, and Bouvet was clearly present. Those of us who organized the conference have received many positive feedbacks, and it will definitely be repeated next year. Now, we need to decide whether it should still be at TOU Scene, which limits the number of participants, or if we want the conference to grow. It was very nice to see the larger IT community in Stavanger. This will be a venue where you can make new collegial acquaintances and gain insight into the issues other companies are working on and how they solve them. It's a great arena for anyone new to the workforce to build their own professional network. HelloStavanger is a volunteer organization, so if anyone wants to help organize next year, just jump in.

🧑🏻‍🏫 Professional Development

Brage has organized several events for professional lunches "λambda Fagkaffe" and I think Brage will definitely appreciate input on topics for these professional gatherings. This is important for us - to have a good rhythm in how we develop our own skills. Getting glimpses and insights into various topics in our own field is important for our own learning, inspiration, and understanding of how others solve tasks. Help Brage and give him tips if you can contribute to a professional coffee with a topic. Preferably something that challenges and creates meaningful discussions among us.

📈 Financial

The MFO so far this year has increased from 11% to 13.3%, so we are on our way! Of course, there is still a way to go to the goal set in January, which is 17%. But with effort from all of us, we can lift it a couple of percentage more. Remember, it is the FG (faktureringsgrad) and, not least, our internal costs that controls the MFO. But so far this year - well done, we are on the right track. We will of course continue to build competence even though some weeks may impact the billing rate a bit.

👥 Gatherings

It was very nice to be with you all at the Regional Meeting yesterday. I think these gathering points are important, as many of us get to meet together, and get a good update on how Bouvet is doing in general. I think Bjarte gave good updates and pointed towards common goals of entering some new markets. Bjarte also conveyed information about a new FO - "Data - AI and Architecture". We will get more insight into this when the new FO leader is in place.
