Week 37/38 - 2024

👥 Bouvet Deler!

This week, Bouvet gathered 400+ participants for a titled How to Find the Magic in Technology. Most of the participants were representatives from our customers. It was a well-executed event with a lot of focus on the possibilities in AI technologies. It was especially nice to receive a lot of positive feedback from the customers, particularly on Bouvet's own presentations, as there was a mix of external, customer, and internal contributions. The focus on the potential of AI technologies is significant, and how this will impact everyone's workday is almost impossible to predict right now, but everyone agrees it will have a major impact. It was great to meet many of the customers, and it's clear that Bouvet has a strong brand and is very well-liked by the customers.

👩🏼‍💻 New Assignments

This week, Ruth started a new assignment at Innovasjon Norge. It's exciting that we have even more Bouvet employees helping this customer with software development. Ole Anders has now started a secondment in the SPTS team for Equinor. It's really nice that we are building experience with consultants in existing teams, so it's not just internal projects between assignments.

AppSec

On Tuesday, I was at AkerBP to present what we do in application security (AppSec). The meeting could have gone better than I experienced. We met a leader who was quite busy and couldn't really focus on the topic. Sometimes it's like that, the setting just isn't right. Anyway, we have an ally there who knows AppSec very well from their time in Equinor's AppSec team, so I believe that AkerBP's maturity in this area will increase. AkerBP is now in a concrete process where they are purchasing tools for AppSec, and they are also in a budget process to allocate funds for AppSec. At least now they know us and have gotten a glimpse of what we can deliver in terms of knowledge on the topic. We will follow this up in the coming weeks. The AppSec team has already received good feedback for the support they have given to the WISE team at AkerBP, as well as several of the teams at Equinor they have assisted. Kudos to them all!

Google

Last week, I visited Google in Norway. We all know this company, and I think it's a significant player that doesn't get enough attention at Bouvet. Google has some exciting initiatives in Norway and would like to do more with Bouvet. Bouvet is already a Google Partner, just like we are a Microsoft partner. Bouvet is independent of these larger players, where we should have the competence to deliver on any platform. My purpose with the meeting was to explore which companies in Rogaland use GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and if it would be valuable for more people to get certified and build competence on the platform. One specific customer using the platform is Kolumbus. Google sees that several companies utilising Azure are starting to question Microsoft's costs and are looking for alternatives like GCP. Not to move entirely to GCP, but to consume the products on the platform that are better at a lower price. As you know, Google is building a data centre in Norway, primarily for the consumer market, but they will probably have another data centre for enterprises. Sweden will also get a data centre, meaning Google seems to be ramping up its efforts in the Nordics. I am in dialogue with the entire ROG-LED (Bjarte's leadership group) about the topic, and they are positive and think it's good that we are exploring the possibilities with Google technologies.

BouvetOne

BouvetOne is coming up soon - the deadline for submitting presentations is 30th September! This is a great place to practice presenting topics you are passionate about! I hope you send in many proposals; here, the environment is safe, the audience is our familiar colleagues - so everything is set for training in a safe environment!

👩🏼‍💻 Hackathon

This weekend is the "Multi-Agent Hackathon!". Several colleagues from Lambda will be there, and it will be exciting to hear what they learn. Maybe we can have a Fagkaffe afterwards?

☀️ Vacation

Well - maybe not the best timing, but I had already planned a holiday now in September/October, so I'll be on holiday in weeks 39/40 and will see if it's still ☀️ in Spain. I'll have my beloved Mac with me, so you can reach me on Slack.

Wishing you all a great weekend when it comes!
