Week 33 - 2024

🧑🏼‍💻 - VUCA

When we learn about agile ways of working, the acronym VUCA -world is often mentioned - Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. In a fewer words - we always will experience changes in our life, sometime small changes and some with more impact. Devloping our skills to handle changes, will help us navigate in a VUCA-world and tackle the feelings of uncertanty that often arrives when we experience change. And this summer / autum, we have experienced changes for λambda. People leave, and 5 new colleagues are joining the unit (Rupak, Karyna, Joachim, Thomas, Knut Erik). With changes there are also new opportunites to shape for the future.

👋🏼 - Best of luck Eva!

We said farwell to Eva this week. Eva has been an inspiration to many of us. It's sad to see here go, but I guess we will meet here somewhere, sometime - as the IT community in our area is rather small. We wish her the best of luck in her new endavours!

📈 - Performance

Current MFO for the unit is on 11.6%. The goal for 2024 was set to 17%, meaning - there is work to do. My current focus is to get exciting opportunities, where Lambda can make a difference. New assignment is the measure that has the most impact on MFO. Without customers and projects, the MFO will hurt. The other measure with an impact, is of course our own spending. We will continue to socialise and build competence, but we need to ensure our activities gives us the most value. There are good cost and bad cost, let's make sure we are spending our resources on good cost 🤗. I feel confident that it is possible to reach our MFO goal during 2024!

📆 - Bouvet Away

I'm a big fan of the webapp Bouvet Away. Would love if we make it a habbit to use our Bouvet calendar, marking when we are away from the office. e.g. vacations, avspasering, sick ++ - This makes it easier for all of us to get a quick overview if we are available. You find the link in this website-menu and pinned as a link in our slack channel #lambda.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 - Business unit meeting

27th August we will gather for a business unit meeting. This to inform on where we are as a business, socialize and have some insight on topics covering Fag - software development and security. I might ask some of you to participate with a topic or two. Yesterday, I moved to a new office, as I was occuping a "two seats office" with Eva. My current office is 78a, 4th floor @ Kanalpiren. Please don't hasitate to drop by and wave hello!
