Week 14 - 2025¶
📊 Business / Forretning¶
Pentest¶
A few weeks ago, we possibly delivered (the first?) penetration test aka "pentest" offer from Bouvet in Rogaland. Bouvet has carried out several such assignments in both Bergen and Oslo, but to my knowledge, not so much - if any - from Rogaland. The customer who contacted us for help is a small start-up in Bryne, which is developing a product they now want external help with to review its security. This is in the form of a "penetration test," where an attacker is simulated and attempts to "break in" through their endpoints (WebApp / APIs, etc.) to gain control over data or the system as a whole. I have received good help from our colleagues in Bergen, who have experience in designing such offers. For us, it is an exciting task, and fortunately, we won the offer. The plan is to carry out the assignment in May.
AkerBP in the Spotlight 👔¶
There is a lot of exciting activity in the market these days, and this time we especially want to highlight Aker BP. We already have an integration team based here in the house. This team works on a wide range of tasks, including new development, changes to existing solutions, and management. In other words, the team handles the entire lifecycle of a data product, thereby supporting several deliveries at Aker BP. The team currently consists of 15 people and is led by Kenneth Løvik.
Now, Aker BP wants to expand this team by a full 10 people. This staffing increase will take place over a period of six months, with an emphasis on finding the right candidates who are both motivated and eager to be part of the assignment.
In addition, Bouvet, together with Olavstoppen, has been tasked with assisting Aker BP in designing tomorrow's management model. In connection with the largest ongoing industrial project in Norway, Aker BP wants to radically improve work methodology and tools, and is therefore establishing a completely new operational model to support this. Among other things, the entire field center will be remotely controlled from a control room in Jåttåvågen, which means there will be no control room offshore. The field center will also have no more than 40 beds, which is a fraction of what we have seen in previous developments.
This project will create many exciting opportunities going forward, in close collaboration with Aker BP.
👬 Fag¶
Bouvet's new AI program 🤖 - Simen Sommerfeldt (CTO) posted the following on #bouvet-informs:
We are launching our new AI program! The program aims to achieve safe and efficient adoption of generative artificial intelligence in the organization. This can make us more productive and contribute to revenue growth while building our reputation as a leading provider of AI-based services. This is coming:
- We are updating the guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence at Bouvet - you can find them here.
- We have entered into an agreement with OpenAI to use ChatGPT Enterprise. Allocation will take place in the usual way once the ordering mechanism is in place.
- Approval of AI tools - including the use of models and APIs: We will have a clear process for evaluating and approving AI tools.
- Training in Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT is coming soon.
- We are piloting BouvetGPT – our own private AI assistant.
- A new task force is helping Internal IT and Security with AI-related questions and tool evaluation.
In addition to this, there are several ongoing AI initiatives at Bouvet, including groups in Rogaland working on AI customer cases, and an SDLC AI expert group working on how developers at Bouvet can use AI tools in their daily work.
🫄🏽 People / Folk og Annet¶
Tomorrow, April 1st, Knut Anders Aabø will start with us in Lambda. It's great to have more experienced competence to play with for our customers! The next intake is in July when Jacob Solberg Holm comes on board, who has several years of experience from Bouvet previously.
Why Good CVs Are More Important Than Ever ✨¶
It's great that you are adding your latest projects, courses, and certifications to your CVs, but it is also desirable that you review the rest of the CV at the same time.
Last year, some good, updated tips on how to create a good CV were published. You can find them on Min side. Even if you are on assignment now, perhaps for a longer period, your CV is still very important. A good CV not only helps you personally but can also contribute to Bouvet winning new, large contracts.
For example, when we participate in large framework agreements, we often have to document how many employees have competence in specific technologies. We do this by searching for tags in FlowCase (CV partner) and retrieving the number of relevant profiles. Another scenario is when a customer wants to see examples of skilled employees with us, without this committing to a specific delivery. Here, your CV can be crucial for us to get the relevant contract.
We therefore hope that everyone takes the time to polish their CVs.
State Secretary Visits Futurum 💼¶
Bouvet hosted a good group of local important actors to discuss the government's digitization strategy!
State Secretary Marianne Wilhelmsen (Ap) met with companies in Stavanger for input on the government's digitization strategy towards 2030. Competence shortage, sustainability, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI) were mentioned as important challenges. Rogaland wants more attention from the government, with IKT Norway highlighting the region's strong business community and understanding of the interplay between energy and technology. The University of Stavanger (UiS) hopes to become one of the country's national AI centers with support from the government's AI billion.
The State Secretary will have follow-up meetings to address HOW the identified challenges can be solved. You can read more about the meeting at the Business Association here.
Regional Meeting Spring 2025 🎉¶
Spring is in the air, and a new Regional Meeting is approaching. When we gather at Stavanger Forum on May 8th, you will experience colleagues on stage, good entertainment, something to ponder, insights into the business, the way forward, an informal atmosphere, and pride when you go home.
The planning is underway, and what can be said so far is:
- Round tables and a three-course dinner
- Improvisational theater
- What roles and opportunities do we have at Bouvet?
- External lecture
- Results and the way forward – outlook for 2025
